Today is the World Energy Efficiency Day

With the aim of stimulating awareness for stopping climate change and creating sustainable societies, today, the 5th March, is celebrated as World Energy Efficiency Day.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that world energy consumption will increase by 40% over the next two decades, which means that governments should implement special measures such as use of renewable energies, but, above all, promote campaigns for more efficient use and saving of energy.

World Energy Efficiency Day is being celebrated precisely today, in honour of the first meeting of world experts held on this day in 1998 in Austria, to discuss the energy crisis and its possible solutions.

Now, it provides an opportunity to reflect on practices aimed at a sustainable and rational use of energy, as well as on commitment by governments, businesses and institutions to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
