Decathletes from Spanish universities participating in SDE share their experience with students from UPM

A meeting, entitled “What is a decathlete?”, took place last Monday at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.  Organized by the Solar Decathlon Europe (SDE), the meeting was attended by more than 120 students of architecture, watching presentations by a member of each Spanish team taking part in this edition of the competition. The four decathletes, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Cardenal Herrera CEU University, the University of the Basque Country and the Consortium Andalusia Team (Universities of Seville, Jaén, Granada and Malaga), explained details of their project’s development, what their solar and sustainable house consisted of and the advantages and experience of being a real decathlete.

This meeting of university students, sponsored by Renfe, is one of the activities of Solar Decathlon Europe, which aims to raise awareness and educate citizens about the importance of the environment and sustainability in construction, as well as promoting sustainable development through research and innovation applied to architecture and efficient construction.
