At Genera 2012: Conference Debate: Nearly Zero Energy Buildings: New Construction and Rehabilitation

Madrid, 22 May 2012.

A Conference-Debate on “Nearly Zero Energy Buildings” will be held next Thursday, 24th May, from 9:30 am to 14 h, in Auditorium 103, IFEMA, as part of the International Energy and Environment Fair, Genera, and within the framework of the European Project 10 Action.

The debate, organized by IDAE (Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy), aims to analyze the problems of converting both existing buildings and newly constructed ones into buildings with nearly zero energy consumption, taking into account the new challenges posed by the adoption of Directive 2010/31/UE on the energy efficiency of buildings.

During the first debate on Technical & Energy Viability in the process of new construction and rehabilitation of a building, technical solutions that the market can offer from the point of view of the different technologies available will be assessed, analysing their degree of maturity and insight.

Later, in the debate on Economic & Operative Viability in the process of new construction and rehabilitation of a building, there will be analysis of market barriers, as well as legislative, economic and financial resources required to achieve nearly zero energy consumption buildings, from the point of view of developers, builders, homebuyers, energy service companies and other agents involved in the process.

The aim of the European project ‘10Action’ is to raise awareness about the need to use renewable energies and make responsible use of energy, and to promote energy efficiency and sustainability by disseminating knowledge gained during the Solar Decathlon Europe competition.  For this reason, activities for children, teenagers, students, professionals of the building sector and general public are being developed all around Europe

10Action is led by the UPM and financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme. Its partners are the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), the Austrian Energy Agency (Austria), the Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (Spain), Equipo de Marketing (Spain), the Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (Greece) and the Agência para a Energia (Portugal).
