This afternoon took place in the Solar Village the Contest Awards with a big number of visitors.

“MORE with LESS (emissions)” is part of the SDE and 10Action energy efficiency project. The awards have been sponsored by Schneider Electric.


Madrid, 17th September of 2012-.  This afternoon it has been failed the contest award MORE with LESS (emissions), promoted by The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), leader of the European project 10Action, intended to bring about a change in the attitudes of Europe’s citizens in the fields of consumption, use and production of energy.

This competition was aimed at all the European university students of Architecture, Engineering, Design, and related studies, who have been chosen by the prestigious jury of professionals from the world of architecture and efficient construction: Luis Fernandez-Galiano, Georg W. Reinberg and Karsten Voss.

The opening ceremony was led by Sergio Vega, project manager of Solar Decathlon Europe 2012, who has been introduced SDE2012 and the project 10ACTION.

First prize in the Urban and Territorial Intervention category was awarded to the project: “It used to be landfill” by Nicolás Mariné and Lucía Mazaré Durio, award given by José Emilio Serra de Fortuny, Director of Marketing and Communications of Schneider Electric España . Meanwhile, the projects “Self-Sufficient Water Device” by Fernando Arocha and Ángela Bailén, award given by Katja Klinkenberg, Project manager of 10 Action; “Green Lantern” by Carlos García, Alejandro González and Tomás Pineda, award given by Michel Orlhac, Vice President Global Marketing Schneider Electric, and “Section Works” by Álvaro López, Carlos Sánchez and Joaquín Santiago, award given by Edwin Rodriguez, Competition Manager de Solar Decathlon Europe. All these have obtained special mentions in the Architecture/ Building Typologies category.

‘MORE with LESS (emissions)’ is organized by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and the Austrian Energy Agency (Austria) and is sponsored by Schneider Electric and is part of the activities of the 10Action project, financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme.



The aim of the European project ‘10Action’ is to raise awareness about the need to use renewable energies and make responsible use of energy, and to promote energy efficiency and sustainability by disseminating knowledge gained during the Solar Decathlon Europe competition.  For this reason, some activities for children, teenagers, students, professionals of the building sector and general public are being developed all around Europe

10Action is led by the UPM and financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme. Its partners are the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), the Austrian Energy Agency (Austria), the Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (Spain), Equipo de Marketing (Spain), the Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (Greece) and the Agência para a Energia (Portugal).
